All Endings Explained

Print I Love U has two endings, and the twist is which one rewards which behavior: succeeding at the game's love tests leads to the worse outcome, and the better ending only opens up once you deliberately fail.

Infinite Loop Detected: The Bad Ending

Pass all three love tests correctly, and the story wraps up with what the game itself frames as its bad ending, tied to the achievement Infinite Loop Detected. It plays out as the "successful" version of the romance the narrator was building toward — which is exactly why the game treats it as the darker result rather than the happy one. Right after this ending, the publisher's note returns with a pointed piece of guidance: to see the other ending, you have to fail the tests on purpose.

Return True: The "Good" Ending

Deliberately sabotaging the three love tests — letting the handhold slip, picking mismatched styles, missing the heartbeat rhythm — leads to the ending tied to the Return true achievement, which the game and most players treat as the "good" ending, though it's a bittersweet one rather than a clean happy outcome. Failing on purpose is what actually reveals more of what happened to Alice Print, rather than the polished version the successful tests paper over.

Why does winning lead to the bad ending?

Because the three tests are the narrator's attempt to perform a perfect relationship rather than have an honest one. Succeeding at that performance is treated by the game as the trap, not the triumph — failing is what breaks the loop the Infinite Loop Detected ending is named for.

Do I need to see the bad ending before the good one?

The game's own structure points you there first: the hint toward deliberately failing only appears in the publisher's note that follows the bad ending, so most players naturally see Infinite Loop Detected before Return true.

Beyond the Two Endings

Finishing both endings covers two of the game's six achievements. The other four are tied to the opening Alice Print question and to content hidden outside the main story path — the full list is on the Achievements Guide, and the hardest of them has its own dedicated page at The Oxytocin Secret.

Between a bad ending that rewards doing everything right and a good ending that only opens once you stop trying to, Print I Love U spends its entire short runtime making the case that the two aren't opposites so much as two honest answers to the same question.
